Nationwide English Speaking Contest for High School and University Students

In order to encourage students to study and speak in English and to find global talent, ICF holds a nationwide English contest every year.

Initially, contestants were evaluated mostly on their listening and reading skills but now they are evaluated on their speaking skills. Previously, finalists were tested in an interview setting. This has now been changed to a group discussion, much like a job application process in Korea.

In order to ensure fairness, organizations including the ICF, Dong-A Ilbo and KATE (Korean Association of Teachers of English) co-host the event. The contest is also sponsored by YBM Korea TOEIC Committee, YBM Language Institutions, YBM NET, ETS, CNN the Biz.
